We loved having dinner at Kothai. It broke me out of my Wednesday slump with its flavorful, bright, and innovative dishes. Loved the beet salad, crudo, and salmon with their wonderful sauces. Also glad we splurged for almond cake with yuzu ice cream at the end.
The food was amazing and the service was great. Every dish we had was incredibly delicious.
I reserved a table for 8 at kothai to host my birthday dinner. I was pleased overall with my dining experience, and would return again for a nice occasion like dinner with parents or a celebration. The restaurant has limited capacity, but I found making a reservation online to book a large table quite simple. Moderate noise, but we were able to hear everyone at our table. You know the food is great when you and your friend are both making birthday plans to come back upon first bite! Genuinely every order is so good because every element of the food is perfectly executed! Favorite of our meal was the mushroom salad with flank steak! Service is also stellar!
Kothai is located near UCSF that offers a relaxing experience to catch up with friends in a tight, but cozy environment. The dishes are creative, in particular my favorite was the hen (chicken large dish) with sticky rice and curry. The melon arugula salad. I can find arugula salad overpowering, but Kothai mixed it with melon and their dressing balanced the “sourness” of arugula. We also ordered the pork chop large dish.
