Fresh Sushi! Looking for a good place to have Japanese food in Columbus? Kooma may be the place for you! I went here with my whole family and it has the perfect ambiance. It's a small place, but it has just enough room. It's very nicely decorated and the service is great. The food was fairly pricey, but the sushi and sashimi was really fresh. My only complaint is that they charged for tea! Japanese restaurants typically NEVER charge for tea and they used green tea bags, which kind of turned us off. Other than that, I recomme... read more

Great sushi, customer service has improved – This is my go-to sushi spot. Columbus has many good sushi places by now, but Kooma is the most consistent. I notice that some places slightly alter their rolls to the extent that you just don't know what you'll get sometimes. Kooma always prepares my favorite rolls the same way. They have argubly the best spicy tuna in town and definitely the best Sunday Morning Roll. Can't be sure, but I think the idea is to make a roll reminiscent of a bagel with cream cheese and lox. I've tried... read more

Good sushi and cozy atmosphere – Just had dinner at Kooma for the first time with a couple of friends. I have tried many sushi restaurants in town and wanted to try something new. The restaurant looks more like a bar from the outside with neon beer signs but it seems to be a way for them to blend into the Short North bar/club area so people step in for an early drink before hitting the bars and clubs nearby. The restaurant has a liquor bar with a flat panel TV for people who just want some appetizers and a drink, but they al... read more

Best Sushi in Columbus – tropigal99 is right, the sunday morning roll is AMAZING! Also try the Dynamite roll! Best original rolls you will find anywhere. Its never been the BEST service but I have never had bad service. Try the lychee martini!

First Timer – Last night was my first time at Kooma, I went with friends who (luckily) had been many times before and knew exactly what to order. Try the seaweed salad with a side of their ginger dressing with warm sake to start off. We all split their spicy salad with crab which was unbelievable (very spicy though, so look out!) and shared in a variety of rolls and specialty rolls (DEFINITLY try their specials, whichever interest you). The service was a little confused, but the sushi absolutely made up for it. Our bill was ... read more

Beware – I have eaten sushi religiously for a long time. I thought when I saw Kooma I had found a great whole in the wall place. But boy was I wrong!! It was one of the worst restaurant experiences I have ever had!!!! We had no wait for our table on a Saturday at around 7 pm. However we didn't see our server for 10 minutes, when we finally ordered drinks. Putting in our food order took at least another 30. The worst part of the experience... My friend got his food somewhat promptly. We waited and waited for mine. However as ... read more

Editorial Review by Christy Buena – Sushi is featured at the intimate, cozy Japanese restaurant that also serves Korean dishes and hibachi grilled meat entrees.

Great sushi / Horrendous Service – The saddest thing about Kooma is that it's the best sushi in Columbus, but the service is so terrible that it makes even the biggest sushi addicts (like myself) never want to go there again. I've been a handful of times b/c I just can't resist the quality of the food, but every time I end up leaving angry and frustrated because of either having to wait a ridiculous amount of time for a table, being ignored alltogether, or having a server who is completely ignorant of the food they're servin... read more

Sunday Morning Roll – All I have to say is in the title. If you go here, TRY THE SUNDAY MORNING ROLL! oh my gosh, it is the best thing, ive only been there twice but i could never go and not get that. it has crab and cream cheese and its deep fried which could sound kinda gross cause thats what i thought at first but its sooooooooooooooooo good!
