In regards to shannon morton. Care ranged from mediocre to completley unprofessional to dangerous. Seemed to project their own family matters onto my situation. Misdiagnosed and ignored symptoms for years that other doctors picked up on immediately. Insensitive and distressing language reguarding gender dysphoria and suicide. Using language adjacent to conversion therapy. Told my guardians to do things that did and still has caused me significant distress and trauma. AVOID Shannon Morton. She signed an open letter earlier this year warning against affirming health care. Said letter also called on Australia’s peak medical and professional bodies to advise doctors that clinical practice should align with the Cass Review’s recommendations and guidance from the National Association of Practising Psychiatrists (NAPP). Trans care is up to AUSPATH.

Don't see Dr Shannon Morton!!! I need to share my experience in case it helps someone else avoid the pain I went through. When I was 18 and trying to find mental health care as a trans person, I ended up seeing a psychiatrist who made me feel unsafe and invalidated. Instead of support, I was told things like “being trans might just be a phase” and that I should “wait until I have kids” before making any decisions about my identity. Those words cut deeply. I attended the clinic yesterday with my 17-year-old son. Can’t speak more highly about Dr Ford and Nicole on reception. Dr Ford was so knowledgeable and the level of care was fantastic. Nicole was engaging and friendly. Both my son and I left the appointment feeling extremely positive about our visit and clear next steps.
