i don't know why anyone whould give this place a bad reputation the sushi is the best ever
I go out to eat for two things, great food and quality service. Kona delivers on neither.
I really have to agree with the previous poster who said watch out for the 22 year olds. My only disagreement to that statement is that I think Xavier was overstating the average age of the crowd here. Our last several experiences have been terrible. Teenagers and young want-a-bees have overtaken this location. And it is not just the customers, I would say that it encompasses the entire staff. All very young and inexperienced. I also agree that the food quality here really leaves a lot to be desired. Don't fall for the 1/2 p... read more
The food is good, however dont bother with the "happy hour" bar appetizers. They were cold, small and unedible. People should know better than to order sliders and pizza at a sushi place, but come on. The rolls are all pretty basic, nothing too imaginative here. But for yuppy pedestrian "sushi" this place wins. At night we saw plenty of younger 21-28 year olds who thought it was cosmo to be seen at the Kona, even though the most they would spend is $10 for a couple beers and then slam it on a debit card... laughable really. ... read more
Great sushi and food! – I love this place! We go there whenever we want to have a special night out, or just for a drink and some sushi. All of their food is wonderful, and is always prepared very well. It is a little expensive, but you get what you pay for at this place. My only complaint is that we have encountered several very "snotty" and rude hostesses.
kona is the best restaurant in town! i love their happy hour deals and the whole menu is awesome.
The secret Kona Everyone knows that Kona rocks at night. They have the best sushi, best steaks and best happy hour. What I have just discovered and apparently others have not yet is that Kona is a great place for lunch. I was with a group and we had lunch in their private dining room. The selection of food, reasonable prices and great service really impressed me.
Fun on Friday Nights I really enjoy eating at Kona. I love the atmosphere, and if you eat there, you should definitely check out the design of the restrooms. The food is good, with lots of variety, and yummy sushi. Friday and Saturday nights, the bar/patio is the hot spot. The crowd is usually 21-30 or so, so if you're, say, a grad student, it's an ideal place to go. The drinks are great, but pretty expensive. I've had both great and terrible service here, so I think it depends on what server you get.
Acceptable sushi restuaraunts I didn't find that the sushi was the absolute best here, but it was good. For Omaha this is pretty impressive. Everything has a Hawaiian theme with Maui Onion rings and other bizarre themes. I'm from Hawaii so I found it a little weird of alll the things they had. It really doesn't taste anything like hawaiian food, but if you don't have hawaii to base it off of its pretty good. However, as it gets later into the night its a prime pick up spot for forty-something year old divorcees. I'd say chec... read more
