I was extremely disappointed and concerned by my recent experience at Kona Community Hospital’s emergency room. The facility itself was unclean—dingy, with visible dirt and flies—which made an already stressful situation much worse. I arrived by ambulance (the EMS crew was compassionate and professional) after a serious injury. Unfortunately, the hospital staff’s care fell far short of acceptable standards. Went in due to an infection from a stitch that needed to be removed sat there for an hour and a half while people who checked in after me were seen, including some guy who faked the panic attack. I watched the Guy stroll on in stroll back outside stroll back in claim he’s having a panic attack and he got right in when I got up to ask how much longer my wait was going to be I was told no rooms available but amazingly they were available for two peoplewho checked in after me! I had a 24-hour labor at Kona Community Hospital and felt very well taken care of. The staff was supportive and kind, and Nurse Megan was exceptional—caring, calm, and incredibly supportive. I’m very thankful for the experience and the care I received.

I got emergency delivered by an ambulance to this hospital for anaphylaxis from Jellyfish stings while swimming the Kailua pier ironman course. The care was exceptional, I've never experienced such caring doctors and nurses. I was personally impressed with all the staff and have never felt I was in such good hands. Even as some folks got off shift, they would stop in to wish me well. Thank you Kona Community hospital, and especially Greta for your kindness.
