I recently had a Laminectomy! I believe Dr. Koeleveld is the most skilled neurosurgeon in the area. As a nurse, it is easy to determine the skill levels and who to choose. However, on a personal basis and as a patient, I never met a finer man. He is warm and compassionate and actively listens. I could not have been happier with the outcome.
Best surgeon in the world! He has the softest, steadiest hands I've ever touched ??
I was very hopeful when I got this appmt. Now, I would give him an F or 0. He was short with me, he refused to listen to me. I am sure he was that way because I was self-referred, which he resented. I could barely walk, and he put in his notes that I was just a little unsteady, not a big deal. His nurse had to help me to the room. He told me no dr. could fix my many injuries from an accident. I had a traumatic brain injury, which he refused to acknowledge.
Read his description of his procedures in an operation. He works with a staff who anticipates his every move. Their obvious training leaves no doubt about the outcome. No one could improve on or equal his capabilities in my view.
Dr. Koeleveld was hands down the best doctor I have ever seen. He was kind, compassionate and actually introduced himself unlike two other doctors I had seen previously that didn't bother. I never felt rushed or hurried, and I never had to wait more than five minutes. He explained everything to me while we looked at my MRI. He ended up finding a bone spur on my spine that was causing me so much discomfort. This came after being diagnosed by three doctors with a herniated disc. Dr. K is a uniquely qualified surgeon. He has advanced management skills and a personable relationship with his patients. He listens carefully and explains his procedure in detail. In my experience. I can recall no doctor to match his accomplishments.
Dr Koeleveld repeatedly told me I did not need surgery. That I needed time. My back got worse until I finally lost partial use of my leg. He then did surgery and I got pain relief for about three months. I had permanent nerve damage to my right leg. When my back pain returned he said there was nothing else he could do for me.
