My mom and Dad live on Kauai. My Dad is disabled and they frequent the resort for meals. From my Mom: We went to Koa Kea yesterday. It doesn’t look like anything happened. They have it cleaned up so nice now. They take such good care of me and Dad. The valets don’t even ask if we need help with the wheelchair. The just get it out of the trunk as soon as we pull. Rooms are nice, though architecture remains that of the 1970s motor lodge it replaced. Service is extremely unfriendly bordering on hostile--unacceptable at a cheap hotel but even more so at this level. Weirdly, guests receive aggressive texts about attending mass. Despite other comments from guests expressing that this makes them feel uncomfortable and unwelcome, the hotel persists and guests have to ask to be opted out of sectarian religious messaging. This was perhaps the most relaxing stay I’ve ever had. The resort is not a big, booming resort with multiple pools (there is one pool but also not a lot of rooms- it never felt too crowded). It is however a great place to stay, especially for couples. The location is perfect, staff is friendly, and the food is delicious. We ate at the pool restaurant, the sushi in the evening, and the Red Salt for breakfast every morning (I recommend the açaí bowl and lobster Benedict).
