We are Vera and Brent Deckard, Künstler Brewing's owners and brewers. German for "artist," Künstler takes one part Bavarian Tradition, one part Texas Pride, and brews it all down in the multicultural barrel that is San Antonio. Lecturing someone on parking in between non existent/extremely faded lines is a bad way to start a day. Fix your parking lot. Not being greeted on walking in because staff was too busy high fiving each other and chatting away added to the unwelcoming environment. I guess happy birthday to me. Fix your parking lot if you want to be strict about it and not having guests trying to play games trying to find the lines. Fix your attitude.
We loved everything about Kunstler! We say out in the beautiful backyard which had beautiful landscaping, a playground for our kids, and plenty of shaded tables. Ordering was easy and we received our food quickly. We ordered the large cheese plate, brats, pretzel, and beet salad and all the plates surpassed our expectations. They were all incredibly fresh with great portion sizes. We will definitely be back!
Be wary of the turn left into the street, it’s a little sudden before the train tracks! My old friend parking can be a bit painful too, so if the place is hopping, may the odds be in your favor. The spot is tucked in the old neighborhood which is slowly gentrifying and is obvious the locals love it, it has some charm if not a bit cleansed. Its overall atmosphere is good. Come to enjoy the beer, and a very mild menu of German ish food.
As soon as we walked in the staff looked at us as if we didn’t belong. We sat at the bar and watched as each person passed us and not once asked if we needed help or would like anything. One person(female) behind the bar actually rolled her eyes at us, after I stopped someone and asked if we could get some service he proceeded to ask one of the bar staff to assist us.
