An absolute gem in Kensington. An outstanding beer and wine selection. The staff is great and Volker in particular has been super helpful in giving us beer recommendations and info. If you decide to dine in they have a really nice food menu and always have a great draft list with a bunch of local Maryland beers on tap.
Knowles has become one of our new favorite spots! The portions are large (grilled chicken sandwich and fish and chips especially), food is good, and drink selection is fun. The service is always prompt and friendly and the outdoor patio is a gem. Vibe is always relaxing and we love coming for lunch or dinner!
It pains me to say this because the food is good and the staff is nice, but I just found out they no longer serve poutine. It was the only dish I ever ordered from Knowles Station Wine & Co, in fact it's the main reason why I went because I know how hard it is to find good poutine locally. So no poutine = lost customer. Simple as that. For anyone wondering, poutine is a dish that originated from Québec, Canada, and the ingredients are pretty simple: French fries, curd cheese, and hot gravy (for the "classic" poutine anyways)... read more
It's a good place to drink but the food is lacking. We had nachos with an inexplicable Ranch dressing (not a big fan) grilled kabobs made with ground beef that we didn't order but received and paid for nonetheless finally we had a risotto that was basically rice pudding with shrimp and asparagus. Truly missed the mark with what a risotto is supposed to be from a flavor and texture standpoint.
