The Emergency Department was Absolutely horrible, they fat shamed my husband, yes my husband is a hefty man but he is also 6+ feet tall and has very broad shoulders and only ONE staff member in the emergency department took that into consideration. Then they subtly shamed him for being afraid of flying in helicopters and they didn’t stop there, they then proceeded to shame him for not having enough money to go to a hospital in SEATTLE for nothing more than an MRI. The nurses here are rude. We dont feel cared for or welcomed. Went in for an abscessed tooth on Saturday night. Sat for what felt like forever waiting in the empty emergency department. A lady came in stating she felt she was having a heart attack. They asked her what seemed like a million questions before they finally took her in. About a half an hour after that an obese doctor came waddling in and said "Oh do we have someone in the emergency room?" Does that mean the heart attack patient was still waiting?!?!?! It's a hospital. It has flaws like most. But they've saved me quite a few times. The ER night nurses and the actual hospital wing are incredibly attentive. I've been in very low and vulnerable situations and they where there for me the best they could possibly be. In such a rural town a hospital like this is a blessing. America has bad insurance companies. If that where to change alot of the reviews on this hospital would change too. My mother died in this hospital and stuck my dad with $80k in bills threatening to take his house. Medicare has been paying inpatient care fine until their billing changed and charged my dad. I went for lab draw. Month later was charged over $500. Previous labs in another state I’ve paid no lore than $250 even with a high deductible insurance. Couple months later went to my doc in The Dalles to find out they never got the results; I had to share them off my phone. I have no prob driving 30-60mins for better.
