I'm American. I was taking vacation and decided to drive from Melbourne to Perth and back as a one way rental was prohibitedly expensive. I rented a car and expected a Mazda, but the company gave me a Kia sportive. No one told me it was a diesel. I was super excited about this trip, inspected the car and got going.
