Great place, but Irvin the guy in charge was rude to several woman. People were talking about him on the river. Get rid of him.
Paddleboarding should be done with caution should you travel down river (dark lily pad covered water with gators) compared to Emerald Cut (clear mostly shallow water.) Many would say duh it's Florida of course there are gators, but a kayak with a guide feels a whole lot safer. Great facilities and friendly staff. Get there early to enjoy it before the summer crowds.
My family took the guided Emerald Cut kayak tour on 7/7/26 at 8:30 in the morning. Our tour guide, Kim, was fun, knowledgeable about the wildlife on our route, and quick to point out the otters, birds, and other animals we saw along the way as well as suggesting other great kayaking sites around Florida to explore later. The route itself was beautiful and not too difficult to traverse, even for beginners like me and my 15yo son. Highly Recommend Nigel! Best tour ever! We opted for the private personal tour with Nigel and I am so glad we did. He was a fantastic guide who kept my teenage grandkids completely entertained and engaged the entire time. Nigel is witty patient and a very cool guy. His knowledge of the run is absolutely impeccable. We learned so much from him and saw an incredible amount of wildlife, including alligators, otters and herons if you’re booking a tour definitely ask for Nigel.
