This western themed bar is owned by Linda Derschang, the lady who owns Linda's and Chop Suey. It is named after a hardware store that was earlier in its place. The decor includes wagon wheel lamps, a saloon style bar and a black and white photo display. The customers can avail of a haircut along with their beer as the bar is connected to Rudy's barbershop. The pub has a lengthy cocktail list and assorted pub grub.

Happy times at the Holidays – When our friends came into town but we couldnt drive to our planned holiday party because of weather--we knew we had to take them to King's so after slushing thru the snow in the cold it was great to find them open. King's saved Christmas! a warm and welcome oasis. The kitchen was closed but the awesome staff had big plates of homemade cookies for everyone. After many, many drinks and too much skee ball we managed to slip and slide all the way on our walk home.
Notice that your bar is kinda busy? – What happened to the bar on the deck? We used to be able to slide out there and get a quick round of drinks (okay shots) when the bar was packed inside. Now I have to wait for the whole waitress attention-order-wait-get driniks-wait-ask for tab-wait-close out fiasco. We have money to spend please take it from us. The Deck bar made it about 1000% easier to get a new round. Anyway my friends and I love Kings and will come back again but maybe not on the weekends if it is such a production.... read more
Fun time in the hood – I recently just moved to Ballard from Fremont and I must say despite the rumors that King's Hardware is very crowded on the weekends, I think I have found my new neighborhood haunt. The burgers are great and I've found that when I'm not in the mood for burgers they have a bunch of cheap beer, who needs food really when you have booze? I know this place gets a lot of sh** for being a "meat market" or filled with d-bags on the weekends, but hey it's not the bar's fault that it's a fun place to drink Jage... read more
BAD service, RUDE, meat market – We had to flag our server down and ask for everything...a second drink and our bill. other than that, our server didn't talk to us. My friend asked for a recommendation and he replied ONE WORD and then just looked at her. uh...OK.....gee thanks. It was a guy server in a fedora hat. and it wasn't super busy either. Also, I get that the serving-beer-in-a-can thing is "kitchy" but that doesn't make me like it. We went on a saturday night about 9:00 and the cookie-cutter Girl-in-Summer-Dress- dan... read more
Cocktails in the Sun – Great burgers, good brews. Skee ball is the most underrated bar game around...do not go for the 100's though...it is fools gold.
Great Bar--Super fun place to meet and drink – King's is something that not enought spots in Seattle are anymore. A place to go out, meet friends, meet strangers and get drinks. I hate (new)Belltown I don't want to have to wear heels to go have drinks with my friends---if you do than great have a good time. I want a bar that I can just go out casually and have some cocktails in a lively atmosphere with good music and a casual atmosphere. Kings delivers big-time on all counts. The brunette girls that work here pour great drin... read more
Rudest bartender in town!!! – My friend and I went to Kings Hardware this last Sunday, 7/25/08, on the advice of a friend who said it was a "great bar". Well, I'm still trying to figure out what he likes about this bar. Kings is divy, but does that really give the bartender a free pass to be completely rude? The lone female bartender, while fitting nicely into the atmosphere with her long, unwashed dark hair and "I bought these at a thrift store so they must be vintage" clothing, was the rudest person I have ever come across... read more
A culinary lesson in mediocrity with service to match – I love burgers and I love beer; two simple things that go great together. Right? Not at King's. Being in (ahem, former working class) Ballard, I ordered a PBR, which arrived warm. I can deal with cheap COLD beer, but a warm, cheap pint is inexcusable. Next we orderer our burgers which arrived some 20 minutes later (with the salad I had ordered "to start") and featured one shriveled, dry ball of meat (I wouldn't call it a "patty") on a large (nicely toasted) bun. The con... read more
A funky wild west theme at this hip Ballard Avenue venture from the owners of Capitol Hill's Linda's. – In Short Named after the hardware store that previously held the space, the Ballard outpost of Linda Derschang's empire (the savvy woman behind Linda's and Chop Suey) keeps with its turn-of-the-century roots. The inside has a frontier vibe, with plenty of stuffed animal heads, wagon wheel lamps, a saloon-style bar and black-and-white photo decor. Big wooden booths line the walls, the jukebox is always in play and the spraw... read more
