I don’t know the status of the observatory but I thought I’d give a bit of history of this place. Dr. Kingman was the chairman of the Physics Department when I was in school there in the early 1970s. I had a 12” reflector telescope I bought used from someone in Port Arthur Texas when I was in high school in Pennsylvania. My dad put a metal pipe (about 6” in diameter I think) embedded in concrete in our backyard and I used to carry the telescope out to that for observing.
