I ordered the shrimp and scallops costing 18.50. I had 2 sides: salad and mac and cheese. I was shocked at the portions. Three shrimp and 3 scallops. But it was tasty. Mac and cheese was delicious but very small portion as well. .boyfriend had Cioppino @ $25. He said it was very bland. We won't go back.
Tries to be Tadich's or Sam's in San Francisco, but fails despite pleasant decor and staff because the chef doesn't know what he's doing. The sandabs--delicate white fish--was drenched in butter, overcooked, and rubbery. Spinach was cooked to mush and heavily salted.
Pretty Solid Place – Not bad. A solid place to eat, but a bit on the pricey side. i also wouldn't go with the seafood salad. It wasn't fresh and too much iceberg lettuce. Go with the fish entrees. they are so much better, but really, if you don't want to spend $40 for lunch, you may want to try someplace else. Overall, though, pretty good food.
Great ambiance, excellent food – Wonderful selection, great food and good service. That was our first impression of King's Fish House. We are seafood lovers and were anxious to try the menu. The fried oysters were a real treat, some of the best I've had in Phoenix. The "sanddabs" were the special of the day, and if capers and lemon sauce are your thing, this was an excellent preparation. The macadamia nut halibut was another special, and was fresh, flakey and delicious. We plan to go back again soon.
Good Oysters – If I'm dining in downtown LB I always stop here for the oysters. Big, meaty, flavorful. It' s fun to sit outside and watch the crowd walk by, especially on the weekends. The fish is always good and fresh. Even tried some of their drink specialties, which weren't bad. Take a date and she won't be disappointed.
Try the Salads.. – I've had a few salads and then there is 'this' salad.. The salad is more than a 'man ' can finish.. and is great. Ask the waiter or waitress.. for any salad with fresh crab and shrimp.. and they'll point you to the 'Louie" salad. It's a bit pricey.. but. .. worth the price.. Expect about 14 to 15 dollars.. plus your drink.. .. don't go alcoholic on this one.. it's to be enjoyed 'as is.. '.. iced tea.. or.. super cold water.. "DEAL" Try it.. and .. gorge yourself on the bread bowl... GREAT DATE MEAL..
Rolly Polly Fish heads – I eat lots of fish. Depending on the day or the hour you arrive is what the difference is all about. Been there many times and they were out completely. All in all I keep coming back.
More money than it's worth! – Their prices are outrageous for the quality of food. I had salmon, it was ok.. i felt a little on the undercooked side. My son's cook better tasting salmon! I ordered the red potatoes and i got whole red potatoes with no butter or anything. The salad i ordered was just a dinner salad made with romaine lettuce and i got mostly white stalks! I ate only a portion of it. I was not impressed by the food served her or their service. I expected at least a question if I wanted butter, or sour cream or s... read more
Great Sourdough Bread – Great local fish house in downtown Long Beach. Love the Martini's & the daily salmon specials. Perfect clam chowder.
