Let’s be clear — I was not late. The receptionist called to cancel my appointment before my scheduled time as I was pulling into the parking lot. I ended up arguing in the car when I could have been seen. I only came in at 8:30 a.m. because my dad, a longtime patient of Dr. Dougherty, encouraged me to. No one told me when I booked that I needed to arrive 10 minutes early. The reminder I did recieve came at 1:18 p.m.—less than 24 hours before—while I was already on a 12-hour shift.
