Beautiful makeup line, tense environment. – I made an appointment to get my makeup done for a big event based on a friend's recommendation. Upon entering, the atmosphere is beautiful and the product lines are enticing. The ladies at the front desk were very nice and attentive, but as soon as I met with the make up artist, everything changed. I had no specific direction, but I asked for high drama and tons of lashes. I was immediately told that she doesn't like when someone comes in and tells them how to do her job and give her direction. I clammed up immediately feeling the tension and intimidation. Once complete, the makeup was something I could've easily done myself. It was boring, no lashes, and honestly, made me look so monochromatic that in every picture I look like I am wearing no make up at all. For the reputation of the place and the cost, I was shocked by the experience. I have since told my friend who still likes the place and had another friend of ours go, and she had almost the same experience (w/o the rude comment) in which she felt the makeup was pedestrian and easily executed by herself. Very disappointing.

Pretend you're a Park Avenue princess and get pampered at this elegant East Side studio. – The Space "The Age of Innocence" meets stylish uptown residence in this lush Madison Avenue townhouse, which boasts Aubusson rugs, Louis XVI furniture and ultra-chic beauty items. The first floor houses the reception area and displays Ahnert's extensive line of cosmetics and kits (including "Bridal Beauty Essentials"). In the back is the well-lit circular makeover area. The waxing and facial treatment rooms are located upstairs. The Services Ahnert has made her name making-up New York's elite faces. Since opening her studio in late 1997, she's been very much in-demand, seeing clients both in the store and at their homes. But Ahnert's quiet, friendly, down-to-earth manner endears her to everyone, and her natural, light touch with the makeup brush brings out the best in every woman, be she in Gucci or Gap. Before getting your face done, try one of the custom facials or get waxed by one of the excellent estheticians.

Not so special – We've been to Kimara Ahnert Salon twice -- several years ago with my daughter and this year with my daughter in law, for makeup "lessons". I felt the lesson was rushed and we were a bother. I felt like the makeup artist really wanted to get on to someone else and was not interested in helping us. The overall feeling was that, as we were not "regulars," we were a bother. We bought her makeup and it is actually very good. But the experience was definitely below par.

User review by anycgirl – AMAZING--Kimara Ahnert's studio is the ultimate in relaxation. I've been to the downtown and midtown salons where you feel like you've been put on a conveyor belt--none of that here. The facials are outstanding, and the waxing--it's short, efficient, and honestly as painless as it could possibly be. I've done the sugaring, the threading...all of it, and I will never go anywhere else after experiencing both Liana and Lidia's techniques. The salon itself is beautiful, none of the attitude that you may expect from a UES studio. Totally worth the trip uptown. Price for facials is completely reasonable, waxing might be a little more than the midtown spas--but by the time you buy the tequila shots before and after OR the painkillers, it will all even out. I love it!

Makeup lesson did not live up to expectations... I felt rushed, and it was similar to department store type makeup applicaiton. Dont waste your money!
