My Dad provides the fresh shrimp for Dean Blanchards Seafood from his boat every Shrimp Season. Every Season he is down in Grand Isle La working hard on his boat to sell to this local dock. When ever we go to the dock to sell our shrimp the staff is very speedy to get our shrimp from our boat boxes to their iced down Shrimp boxes. They carefully do a count and get our weight and write us a ticket to settle up in their office. The office staff is super friendly and speedy to get us on our way back to shrimping. Thank you Dean... read more
Dean Blanchard has made my vacation. I am from Missouri and I stayed in Grand Isle for vacation. We visited Dean Blanchard’s for shrimp. It was amazing shrimp and excellent service, it highlighted our vacation and made our days. Thank you, Dean Blanchard staff for this excellent service and food. It was fresh, easy, and they provided ice and carried our cooler to the car.
There was a problem with the scales when a group of us, 7 to be exact, purchased shrimp a few years. We didn't catch the mistake until we got back to North Louisiana. 350lbs of shrimp we bought. The weight was more than 15% off. When I called about the discrepancy, they checked their scale and found the problem. They also refunded our money plus. Who does that? I will always be a customer. Integrity builds a business.
Got to be careful and check the weight and size of shrimp - they tend to weigh the water and ice when they load the scale. The size of the shrimp are very inconsistant - when you buy the largest shrimp you'll get some medium and small included - but they do have wonderful tasting, fresh shrimp and will totally ice them down for your long trip home. You just have to be aware and on top of the situation...
I had seen another review about weight being wrong. I asked for 1.5 pounds of shrimp. Was charged $9.50 and he took the $10 bill and said thank you. He was Asian and didn’t seem to understand English well. So I just laughed as I thought it was funny. The weight of the shrimp when I got home was under a pound. So I paid $10 for about a pound of shrimp which should have been $5.50 I had waited all week to get fresh shrimp and am disappointed that this happened.
