Dr. Eric J. Kezirian provided an excellent experience during my visit today. He was thorough, clear in his explanations, and took the time to walk me through every step of the evaluation. I recently underwent a DISE procedure with Dr. Kezirian and found him to be competent and kind. He didn't push any procedures on me, including the DISE, and is aware that young and thin people can have symptoms from sleep disordered breathing even if their AHI is not severe. UCLA was disorganized around insurance -- I had to provide mine multiple times to multiple people before it was finally on file/processed correctly -- but that's not Dr. Kezirian's fault and it's great they accept many types of insurance. I’m only a few days post-op, but I wanted to share how pleased I’ve been with my care so far. I’ve dealt with chronic fatigue for years, and despite being young and otherwise healthy, my sleep apnea was very severe. Dr. Kezirian is extremely personable and clearly very knowledgeable in his field. I had a deeply disappointing experience with this provider. He was dismissive, frequently interrupted me, and demonstrated a rigid, outdated view of sleep apnea management. He outright rejected the role of palatal expansion and nasal resistance in sleep apnea, despite substantial peer-reviewed, evidence-based research—much of it published by Dr. Kasey Li, who is notably his colleague.
