Dr. Collen is not someone I would ever recommend for someone looking for a personable, helpful psychiatrist. I saw him for four years, and he didn't remember key details about my life the entire time I was seeing him. Could not remember any medications I was on and was constantly asking ME what I was taking and when. He also was pretty rude a few times, including one time where I asked him if a medication might be right for me and he snapped at me, saying that I don't know more than he does because I did a Google search. Dr. Collen has been seeing me now for 7 years. He is to the point and has not, and will not co-sign my self diagnosis. I was referred to him at a time when I needed direct care. I am one of those who gets confused about psychiatric care and therapy. Having a psychiatrist recommended a therapist is not something I wanted to hear. I wanted the little pill that fixed it all. In my life experience. It doesn’t work that easy. I appreciate his help and being my psychiatrist for such a long time… to me at least.
