I went there on good faith, my sister is marriage to the owner nephew, I have a 1986 caddy coupe deville , it needed a catalytic converter, but with this car its a 1986 so it needed none , just a straight pipe :) which I didn't know until I research it > the mechanic was very rude along with the service manager , that I let know that I was family . they overcharged me and I wouldn't recommend anyone to Kern's Muffler Shop or Service Center , go there at your own risk because if they will screw family they will screw you
Kerns has been helpful, informative and prompt every time. Wouldn't go anywhere else for a muffler repair. No knowledge of other work, but I would expect v good results and service.
Came to get a mechanic problem fixed that was under warranty. The part was redone after only a year or two. On top of that, they damaged the body of my vehicle and the owner would not give me the shop's insurance info or pay to have it repaired at a body shop. I was even accused of having existing body damage after one of their workers admitted to the damages. I will never go back, neither would I recommend anyone else to.
My car was sounding like a race car but afterwards back quiet as before & worked w/me on the funds I had to repair my car.

It seems to me that the minute a female walk into a car shop t, there is a sticker on her forehead that says ignorant, vulnerable, take advantage of me!!!!! I took my car here to have the muffler repaired after a bad experience at the Car-X on Port Washington Rd. a year or two ago, and I was very happy with their service and cost. They could've sold me the more expensive piece that Car-X had told me I needed and I would have bought it, but instead they jacked the car up and showed me what was wrong with it (once I saw it I could clearly see it was the flex pipe that needed to be replaced and not the year-old (perfectly fine) engine pipe that Car-X had tried to tell me), and gave... read more
