Went into Katy's while driving down the coast and had been hoping for a good seafood market the entire time. Katy's was the best one we found. It's a tucked away, small, no frills market, but you don't really need any different. Bob was super knowledgeable and helpful and gave a lot of tips and information. I mentioned that I was not confident in cooking fish, as I am not from the coast and was just passing through and he took the time to teach me how to cook different things I had questions about and what to look for and avoid at different fish markets. The store is very clean and there is no “fishy” smell.

I just returned from Trinidad where I stopped at Katy’s Smoke House to buy some King Salmon and Petrale. I have been buying fish from Bob Lake for 15 years. He has the freshest fish of any other market in Humboldt County. All one has to do is walk into Katy’s and the first thing you will notice is there is no fish smell and that the facility is spotlessly clean.
