mm great place to bring friends and family when they're visiting the city. Not a place for solo travellers. The food is wonderful, maybe a LITTLE expensive by Chinatown-standards, but well, what can you do?
Just like India! – So I have been to India...I have eaten in Jackson heights! I was just walking by this place one day, hungry, and decided to stop in....I ordered the veg samosa, saag paneer, chicken tikka masala, naan, and chai tea. WOW!!! The food is SO delicious it brought me to tears in my eyes. All the flavors, aromatic spices, tenderness, and freshness brought me right back to being in India and all the delicious food I had there. I have eaten at many Indian restaurants in the US and it's usually subpar! Usually, most... read more
Hidden Gem – I'm hesitant to give away the secret of this treasure in the West Village for fear it will become mobbed. We ordered takeout a few times, expecting at least some semblance of edible Indian food and were amazed at how extraordinary all of the dishes were. Finally got a chance to go there and found the service, atmosphere and commitment to hospitality on a par with the delicious food. I'm not a gastronome so, I cannot go into detail in describing the subtle nuances of the various entrees but, I have experience eat... read more
Great Indian Food – I've only ordered take out and it's always great. Fast delivery. Maybe a bit overpriced, especially seafood dishes.
romantic night out My wife and I had a great culinary experience here at Kahari Indian Cuisine. The staff was very professional, efficient, fast, attentive and accommodating. They kept our refills coming and they were very friendly, no attitude about anything. The ambience is very cool, theres dim lighting and we found it to be very romantic. We had a really good dinner, the spices were authentic and very spicy. We had great entrees and even decided to try the Indian yogurt which we fell in love with. We are planning on goin... read more
A new happy place – This is one of the best dining experiences I have had in a long time. I am a sweetheart for good service, good food and reasonable prices. Our server was pleasant and efficient. I really enjoy the added touch of class that taking away first course silverwear and replacing them with new for each subsequent course. The food is phenomenal...even the complimentary sauces had original flavor. We ordered the Malai Kofta, which literally melted in the mouth and Lamb Vindaloo. The lamb wasn't fatty, the sauce had... read more
One of the Best Indian Restaurants in the City – This unassuming place in the heart of the West Villiage was a wonderful surprise to me. I absolutely loved the Indian food and the staff and restaurant offered a charming, yet cozy environment. Highly recommended by me if you are looking for a casual joint paired with great Indian food. I'll definitely be back!
Great indian food in the west village! Finally! – I finally got around to trying this place the other night. It is totally awesome, there's no really good Indian food in the neighborhood until now. I had samosas and the chicken marinated in yogurt. The owner is so nice, and brought out these great fried veggies (Indian tempura?). The naan is so fluffy and delicious. Main courses kick it. The food definitely has a spicy bite, but it's not just hot. It has wonderful layered flavors and is highly addictive. They're waiting on a... read more
Yum! Don't be fooled by the odd yellow exterior of this restaurant and don't leave until you've gone inside. You're sure to be in for a surprise. With dim lighting and antique silverware, it sets the mood for some good chowing. You drink from goblets rather than cups as they pour from a matching jug. The waiters all take their turns to serve you by refilling your water. I'm sure they're aware that the food is spicy. The food is excellent and spicy, but don't worry, the water and bread refills keep coming! They also have dese... read more
