My doctor's office could not get me in for flu shot in time to be adequately vaccinated for upcoming holiday. Kankakee County HD told me over phone that yes- I could receive it with my insurance card. I let my Doctor office know I was getting it there. I arrived only to find that I had to have a referral in order to use my HMO insurance. The Kankakee Health Dept. workers were very supportive and patient while I obtained that document. Quick services when you need it! Never had to wait more than 15 mins to be helped with anything. The staff are very quick and efficient. Nurses are very equipped. They have a system and it works! I’ve been for my child up to date shots for school immunizations and check ups. Never had an issue, and grateful for state support funding for services like these. (2020)
