The food was exceptionally delicious, and Katie, our server, was attentive in all the right ways. We highly recommend Kanak to all our friends!
I had a very disappointing experience at Kanak Restaurant in Charlottesville. The chicken dish that was served to us was raw, and even after we sent it back, the replacement was also undercooked. Only after raising the issue again was it replaced with butter chicken, which was acceptable but nothing exceptional. Ordered takeout biryani with chicken, got mixed vegetables and potatoes, with no chicken. I've never seen broccoli in biryani, ever. Also got yellow (I'm guessing curried) and white rice with my tikka masala in the same bowl, almost like leftovers of each. Zero flavor, both dishes just packed with curry. None of the rich flavors that you get with typical Indian dishes. First and last time.
What a great experience! The dinner, the atmosphere, the decor, the service was all excellent! We had the sweetest host and waitress that let us in 5 mins early and seated us. They were amazing! So attentive I’m new to Charlottesville and I’m still looking around for new food spots to try. I recommend the Sambosa, chili mili, chicken tikka, bryanini. I will definitely be back!
