I'm not sure about the past but Kaktovik Inn has turned a new page in 2025. While this isn't the Ritz Carlton, this is a cozy, rustic place with a family home type vibe and excellent food. It is located in one of the most beautiful places in the world and EVERYTHING is flown in on small aircraft. I can think of no other hotel where there is a very good chance of looking out your window and seeing a polar bear in its natural habitat. That alone is worth the cost of the flight and lodging in my opinion.
We just got a new cook. He was friendly and served good food.
