I had my second dining experience this week at Kabuki Sushi in Solvang and was not at all happy with the service. The food was not bad and I liked some of the sushi rolls and the sushi sampler menu, but we were not taken care of by the staff and left waiting for long periods of time without drinks, appetizers, or menus for that matter. I took my husband here for hid birthday dinner because he loves sushi, BIG MISTAKE! The food took over 2 hours to arrive, we were very rarely checked on. Our order was "lost" we had to reorder and wait and wait. The waitress offered to comp us some gyoza to alleviate some of the hunger pains that set in which was nice, but once the owner (wife of the sushi chef) found out about that she lost her mind. Kabuki Japanese Restaurant If you are looking for great tasting Japaneses cuisine, this is the restaurant for you. A nice break from all the Dutch styles and tastes of Solvang. Relaxing, fresh and taste food at good prices.
At Your Own Risk – Over the years I have eaten at scores of Japanese restaurants. Kabuki is a challenge to review, because it offers good fare (especially its sweet raw shrimp), but its service is routinely bad, and the chefs sometimes confuse orders. I ate at Kabuki perhaps 15 times before I stopped visiting. I was sent wrong orders, given ice cream with freezer frost, left unattended for 45 minutes by my server on one occasion, and overcharged for sake.
