My wife and I came down from Sioux City, IA, to Omaha to celebrate her birthday weekend back in late August. This castle looked like an interesting place to visit, so we decided to give it a try.
Historic Scottish-baronial mansion and grounds of the once-locally prominent Joslyn family. Lovingly restored and supported by a private trust, the sprawling, handsomely decorated 1905 manor house is accessible through guided tours offered daily at 12:30 p.m. except on Saturdays, when it is closed for private events. Beautiful castle and grounds. Unfortunately missed the mark by not having furniture throughout. You can tell the set up is more to cater to weddings and events. The tour was 90 minutes hearing about wood throughout the castle, which was not overly interesting. The guide also told us she was allowed “creativity”, and said a lot about how she imagined things were so not sure how authentic anything really was. We were all ready for it to end after the first 30 minutes.
