Dr. Smith wound up with a medically complicated patient (me) to address grade 4 basal osteoarthritis at the base of my thumb. Dr. Smith is wonderful about explaining everything. He is an outstanding hand orthopedist based on the beautiful surgical procedure to correct this issue. Normal patients would be fully recovered by now (surgery was on 1/6/26, but not me! I had Dr. Smith perform the carpal tunnel surgery on my left hand. Dr. Smith is all business. Surgery was quick and painless. Recovery has been good and scarring is very minimal. So far so good. I had him order a nerve study on my right hand to do the surgery on the hand this year. I have not heard back from them yet on the nerve study results, but I am sure I will soon. ~ Greg Gagnon
I had a great experience at Ortho Carolina with Dr J. Smith. He was attentive and listened to my concerns. He wasn't in a hurry to get out the door. We made a plan to try to relieve my issues and will have a follow up to make sure it's the right one.
