Normally I wouldn’t go out of my way to write a review but I was extremely shocked by the lack of attentiveness I received on my first visit. I came in w/ trouble sleeping (wasn’t recommended a solution or even a sleep dr. recommendation) as well as back pain from a car accident (didn’t even acknowledge let alone do the bare min. by recommending an orthopedic). I was sent home with 0 advice or help. It’s a shame because a family friend recommended him as my family has all worked in medical field. If you’re looking for a doct... read more
Dr. Schauer and his entire staff are great. I have seen him, Dr. Sheila Mellody and their NP and have had wonderful experiences. They all take the time to answer any questions I have. The front office staff is always very polite and accommodating any time my family needs to be seen for anything. And it’s very convenient that they can also draw your blood in the office for any necessary blood work. I would highly recommend Farmingdale Family Practice.
The last and final visit with this doctor should have occurred a long time ago. In three years 2 serious medical mistakes is 2 too many. The first occurred when the doctor himself prescribed an antibiotic for a flesh wound, problem was, this antibiotic should never have been prescribed because this medicine is contraindicated if the patient is taking an ACE or ARB (anti-hypertensive), which I was taking at the time (ACE). If you take this with an ACE or ARB you can suffer a fatal rhythm.
Dr. Schauer III has been my Primary Care Physician for 22 years and he is the consummate Physician from a family of Physicians. I have been hospitalized on many occasions and I joke with Dr. Schauer that I can set my watch everyday when he makes his daily rounds, the first person I see every morning in the hospital is him at 7AM. He has true compassion and cares for ALL his patients, I highly recommend Dr. Schauer as he is in the elite of General Practice Physicians and a very nice man to boot
They were so terribly rude that I wouldn't recommend a dog be evaluated or treated by "Dr. Schauer" ... His staff was argumentative and rude as well and misread my test results, then sent me someone else results instead of my own after they'd each taken turns cursing at me about it. Do not visit this doctor. I'd recommend going anywhere else first.
