I have AvMed insurance. I'm a heart failure patient. I have a mechanical heart valve which means I have to take warfarin which means I do a INR blood test monthly. My insurance told me I should go to quest for my testing. Dr powers refuses to give me an order for this test. He has his own coumadin nurse to do my test monthly for 80 dollars or more. He's obviously only in it for the money. He's not a doctor that cares.

My first visit with DR Joseph Powers I was impressed with his friendly , kind approach to the care he gives. He listens to what is said, and I immediately felt at ease . Listened to how I felt about the meds I had been taking . Offering an alternative. Explained a condition I had and point of where the condition was and how to help control it. Very informative. Knowing he really listened to what I felt was very important to me . Made me feel very much a part of the process. It was a great experience .
After specifically picking an insurance so that we could see Dr. Stanton and Powers and verified it with their office to assure that they accepted it --- We even gave them the ID to put into the system in order to make the appointment --- I take the morning off and when we get there, they tell me that they don't take the insurance and have an additude like it's too bad too sad for you. Extremely unprofessional. I'm sorry I even have to give them one star.
Excellent physician! Highly recommend. He spends time with you, explains anything you need. Very caring.
