It took 3 weeks to talk to someone on my team. Then they said another team was closed and team 3 took the patients so they have no openings until Oct. Very disappointed in the care given. Joplin VA
AVOID, SEEK MENTAL HEALTH TREATMENT WITHIN THE COMMUNITY. First and foremost, you will receive medication and 30 minute sessions to discuss medication with a psychiatrist LONG before you will ever speak to a counselor. It took an incredibly intense discussion to be able to see a counselor and discuss treatment not spearheaded by medication. However, they will continue to tell you that they are booked 6 months out. As a veteran, and patient , I've never felt so helpless, so humiliated or frustrated. I literally told the doctor that I thought the muscle in my leg was dying, discolored and tripled in pain. She didn't ask any other questions on it, nor even to even LOOK at the leg. She was more concerned about triglycerides and my weight. Ya, I'm overweight because of intense leg/ankle pain, and my shoulders torn rotator cuff, all that prevents movements without pain.
