In 2014 I sued three airplane mechanics who ruined the restoration of a DC-3 airplane my father flew on in WWII. One of them hired Dowdy to represented him, 2013-2019. Dowdy advised this person to make a settlement offer under Texas Rule 167, which allowed that if I rejected the offer, and didn't at trial get 80% of what the defendant offered, I had to pay his legal fees incurred after rejecting his offer, limited to the amount he at trial would owe me - but neither Dowdy or I knew about this limit.
