The John Twitty Energy Center is Springfield's major baseload power station. It is a mix of coal-fired steam units and natural-gas turbines that have anchored the city's energy supply for decades. Also known historically as the Southwest Power Station, the total operating capacity is more than 600 megawatts. I took a tour here today and I was completely impressed by the professionalism and the great efforts to protect our environment. I have a greater appreciation for the electricity that is always available at ghettos flip of a switch.
