I have never been spoken down to or treated so poorly by a doctor in my life—especially by a doctor who was caring for me after surgery. The bedside manner I experienced from Dr. Pender was absolutely unacceptable. I felt dismissed, belittled, and as though my concerns and well-being simply didn’t matter. Horrible bedside manner. One of the rudest doctors I have encountered. Very unkind to someone who just had surgery as well as all of the guests in the room. It broke my heart to see my loved one cry because of him, they had just gone through emergency surgery. Then he turns around and gives me medical advice about my weight as a guest visiting. I was admitted to the hospital with a strangulated hernia. Dr Pender did all he could to avoid surgery but when it became apperant that it would not resolve itself without intervention he stepped up. What was supposed to be a simple surgery turned out to be a much more serious issue and required 4 hours of work. I am thankful for the work he has done.
I would not recommend to anyone. Terrible bedside manner and a follow-up telehealth appointment was blown off by the provider. Also never let me know that there was something suspicious on imaging he requested, and now am being treated for potential thyroid cancer as well. Only in reading the report myself was it discovered. I will not return to this provider or Billings Clinic as a result.
