Does not respond to messages, texts or emails. My mother has left numerous messages to get update on her divorce but no answer. Oh but, yes, he did request payment up front. I did research on him with State Bar of Texas and found he has been on Fully probated suspension TWICE. My mom will have to file a complaint to see if she can get him to respond or at least get her money back due to no services done. John McDermott is a horrible lawyer and a bully. He was constantly requesting more money with the promise of moving the process forward. Always giving misleading information and making me believe he was working on my case. After he finally filed my paperwork he misspelled my name, his alleged clients name. Going through a divorce is always difficult no matter if both parties agree and want the process to be as painless as possible. When hiring Mr. McDermott both my ex and I felt comfortable with him because he knew the laws for non-contested divorce and his fees were pretty cheap compared to others; I would have rather paid double after my experience. John Mcdermott has represented me numerous times in Harris county. I met him 5 minutes before our court appearance to give him details about my case. He was able to retain and recall specific details about my case all while putting it in proper context that seemed to be inline with the law and court rules.
