I have sickle cell and he changed one of my medications without telling me and when I asked him about it he said “ a study shows the medication isn’t worth it to give.” He didn’t tell me what study he’s referring to and he’s basically grouping all sickle cell patients in the same group saying that the Medcine increases the stay for Sickle cell patients in the hospital. Dr. John marker was an exceptional hospitalist during my grandmothers stay at Ochsner Baptist. He was able to explain everything to my family in a way they could understand and sat down and answered all of their questions. I am a nurse and instead of trying to explain certain things to my grandfather to relay to me, he took the time to call me personally and answer my questions and explain follow-up as well. You can tell he truly cares about his patients and genuinely wants a great outcome for them.
