When I saw Dr. Dowdle for a trigger thumb, he gave me a cortisone injection in the wrong place! I tried to tell him he had numbed my palm instead of the base of my thumb, and as I was talking, he jabbed me anyway. It hurt so much I involuntarily flinched and grabbed my hand away, but he kept injecting me anyway. My middle finger went numb instead of my thumb. When I told him, he said that was normal and not to worry. Needless to say, the injection did nothing for my thumb. Later, when I went to a different doctor, she gave m... read more
Dr Dowdle seemed competent when I saw him for a crush injury of my finger. But the healing took an unexpected turn about 8 weeks later and, while not a screaming emergency, I needed a prompt follow up to determine if additional medical treatment would be needed Too bad for me. Dr. D was a) on 2-week vacation with b) no nurse or PA, c) no telehealth option, d) no covering physician, and e) no available appointments even close to promptly upon his return. I was told to go to Emergency Room or Urgent Care (nope: this is not wha... read more
Dr. Dowdle spoke to me in a very rude and condescending way. I am so confused about what triggered his rude behavior and surprised he is allowed to practice at such a reputable place as HSS.
I have Carpal Tunnel in both hands, but my left hand was worse than the right.I decided to get the left hand operated on since it was so bad .My friends advised me not to,because it would be a waste of time. I was referred to Dr Dowdle by a doctor who shared the same office .The surgery helped for about a year. Then the pain was back, but now I have my ring finger and middle finger getting stuck together, trigger finger.Dr Dowdle said I needed to get a cortisone shot. That worked for a couple of months. So now I have to get these ... read more
Terrible. If you like pain, you'll love Dr Dowdle. He's just a glorified car mechanic with no regard for his patients.
Dr Dowdle did an unnecessary surgery on my wrist without research into the real issue- arthritis. He failed to mention that I would need hand therapy for years to follow and told me the recovery time would be 14 days - 3 months. It has been years and multiple doctors later, I have major hand pain which was made worse by the shoddy surgery. His bedside manner is arrogant and he didn't document a piece of the surgery he elected to perform (shaving a tendon) which we had never discussed.
