Dr. Kern saved my life in a complicated emergency surgery involving a brachial artery graft and repair. His skills are impeccable. I’m very fortunate that he was on call when I came to UVA. I highly recommend him.
Dr. Kern ticks all the boxes of an awesome surgeon: 1. His hands work, and his results prove that. 2. He listens to my wife and answers ALL of her questions/concerns. 3.His staff respect him and he runs the show. 4. And he cares. The stuff he and his team does day in and out is not appendectomies and gallbladders. They crack your chest, turn off your heart, cut open your heart, stick a ton of tubing in your heart, work on it for hours straight, restart it, sew you back up and 5 days later they send you home. Dr. Kern saved my life. I had a very rare tumor on my left ventricular wall. I had seen a slew of doctors prior to being transferred to UVA. Dr. Kern was immediately involved and after speaking with him and the rest of cardiac team, I knew I was in the right place. A plan was put into place and executed flawlessly. In addition to being an amazing surgeon, it’s easy to see that Dr. Kern cares about his patients. Thank you, Dr. Kern. From the bottom of my heart.
