I saw Joe a couple weeks ago and wanted to see how my hair did before reviewing. I went in wanting a full cut but after discussing my type of hair with Joe, we realized my hair would not do well with the haircut I envisioned. Joe listened to what I wanted and answered all my questions. He asked questions as well, to get a feel for my hair routine. I have long curly hair and have had a hard time finding someone who “knows” curly hair. Glad I found Joe - I really like my cut!
I requested a face-framing cut with long layers and a full balayage highlight. The service was over $300, but unfortunately the results were not up to the mark. The stylist was friendly, but not proficient enough to understand hair type. Instead of addressing the technique or approach, he blamed it on my “culture” saying because in your culture they use oil, the color didn’t work. That was unprofessional and disappointing to hear. I came in for a partial highlight and root touch-up to blend my grays. Instead, I left with patchy, very brassy, uneven color, very damaged hair and scalp irritation that is far from what I booked (see photos). Joe deviated from standard industry practices - insisting that he wash my 3 day old hair at time of appointment alleging color wouldn't take on a scalp with natural oils.
