Treated just like family!
I'm not sure the daytime trip is necessary in the glass bottom kayak, but it is worth experiencing at least once. Wallowa lake has such clear blue water you have to experience it first hand. JO Paddle was great for this experience. A family small business they do a great job making sure everyone is safe and know what to do should anything happen. It was a fun evening paddling around the lake. Definitely a unique experience with the lighting. The crew seems to have a pretty tight process for entering and exiting the boats which was helpful. When we were lining up at the dock to exit the boats, I asked one of the guides if I should hand him my things. His response was a sarcastic “Well I guess you know what you’re doing then, go ahead and get out of the boat.” Followed by an awkward silence and him staring at me waiting for me to get out without his help. We had a fantastic time on the night kayak on Sept. 5th. Josh was very considerate of my lower back issues when helping me in and out of the kayak. This was definitely one of the coolest experiences I have had while kayaking. I would like to suggest that you visit Austin, Texas with your tip fund monies. There is a bridge in downtown Austin that is called the Bat Bridge. Every night at sundown, thousands of bats come out from there daylight roost and look for bugs to eat. We went on the glass-bottom nighttime tour and had a phenomenal time. Joshua and Samantha were excellent guides, and provided a great overview of the Wallowa mountains, including their history and geology. They were very safety-conscious and provided great kayaking tips. We would highly recommend going on one of their tours.
