I had a Remington Portable Model 5 platen refinished by J.J. Short; somehow despite being a steel bar covered in rubber the postal service managed to bend it beyond repair. I spoke with Peter and he had a beautiful replacement shipped the same day and arrived before the end of the week. I cannot recommend J.J. Short enough for really caring about their work and their customers!
I had my Skyriter platen restored here. Peter ran into a problem, the wooden core was warped and not useable. He searched for one and found one. The newly restored platen is homeward bound at no additional cost. I am new to the collecting of typewriters. If the need arises, I will definitely look for JJShort for assistance! They redid that platen and feed rollers for my 1926 Remington typewriter. Even though we had a hiccup and one was returned without being redone, Peter was very quick to make it right, and very kindly sent me the proper pieces. These guys were great to work with, and I am thankful to them for helping bring my old typewriter back to life.
