My stay at JFK Medical Center North broke me in a way I never expected. I came in scared and in pain. Some of the nurses were wonderful. The CNAs and PCTs treated me with real care. They made me feel human. They checked on me and helped me feel safe. But a few nurses were dismissive. They made me feel like I was bothering them just by needing help. Very clean and friendly people
The "psych er" is a joke. To be held in a room for almost 48 hrs with no treatment or even anyone checking on you should be illegal. How does that help anyone's mental health? The only positive experience was an RN named Leslie who was running around trying to get people out or moved to the other unit. If it wasn't for her, this would be a -5 review. Couple days ago I got really sick and ran to the HCA emergency department where I met doctor Bard. I was very impressed by Dr Bard's level of empathy, medical knowledge, and clinical competence. I was terrified when I got there but Dr Bard and his nurses (Gabi and Jessie) took really good care of me. Their ability to connect with patients and explain complex medical information in an accessible way is a true asset. Im forever grateful.
