Terrible experience with Dr. Lavin. She has no bedside manner, and is incredibly inept in communication in general. Also, she is a bad doctor medically speaking. She put tubes in my son’s ears and one fell out of place and into his ear requiring another procedure for my 18 - month old.

She was very cold and a bit dismissive at our appointment. She didn’t offer to look into the issue but instead jumped to wanting to operate without any other option. With her demeanor and attitude, I would not trust this doctor… not sure why she is in the pediatric field if she doesn’t seem to like kids. She couldn’t even bother to say bye or acknowledge my child when we were leaving. Very awkward/ weird experience. Only giving it 2 stars because her medical assistant was super welcoming and sweet.

We unfortunately have had a terrible experience with Dr. Lavin. She has demonstrated a robotic, detached bedside manner during our initial consult, as well as post-op and follow up appointments, and inflicted a great deal of pain on my 5 year old son who has an otherwise abnormally high pain tolerance. We saw Dr. Lavin after waiting 8 months to get into anyone at Lurie’s and we took a chance going with her as my son desperately needed to be considered for ear tube surgery after 14 ear infections. Worst doctor. We consulted with her after my son got many ear infections. She pretty much dismissed our concerns and asked us to come back if he gets a few more during the summer. She did not do any hearing test to understand if there was any hearing loss. That is and should be the first step that any ent performs before consulting for an ear infection. Dr. Lavin and her team are wonderful. It's very rough to see your child in pain and need surgery. I was so relieved with how easy they made the entire process from the pre-appointments to the follow up. I never once had to worry. Every person on her team was very thorough and caring.
