I've been getting my eyeglasses from Jeffrey for over 10 years. He is a master of both the art and science of his work. I have complex vision and he always resolves to truly perfect vision results. He advises when to spend extra on lenses and when to go basic. He also has an artful eye for frames that look great -- conservative, jazzy, playful, he has a fantastic selection and immense patience. Perhaps most importantly, he cares about his clients. The boutique is a social hub because everybody enjoys Jeffrey!
I had the best experience today at Jeffrey’s Manhattan Eyeland, the optician at 2391 Broadway in NYC . It was absolutely fabulous.... Jeffrey spent two hours with me and I have never had such a thorough understanding of what kind of glasses, lenses, very precise fit and adjustments, and frames are exactly right for me ....it was really an education. I ordered sturdier and and beautiful new glasses that will give me better vision (including at night), protection against bright lights. Norma Rosenberg

Avoid Jeffrey's Manhattan Eyeland Although expensive, the lens and frame are excellent and totally satisfactory. It is Jeffrey that is the problem. He is neither an Optician or Optometrist and thinks he is very smart. His approach to customer satisfaction is absolutely awful. When I called he hung up on me. When emailed, he refused to accept the email. All this over him refusing to fill out a form stating that my old glasses (purchased elsewhere) are broken. He did say they were irreparable after charging me $50 for a repair... read more

Knows his business! I'm actually quite surprised by some of these negative reviews. There seems to be nothing in the middle. You either love the service or hate it; that seems odd to me. I decided to try the positive. I went to his store and told him what was going on with my eyes. He recommended that I go to see an ophthalmologist and gave me the name of one who found out what's been going on for the last 3 years. I was overprescribed. My sister and her husband and friends have been going to Jeffrey for years for glasses. He also recommends extremely well trained ophthalmologists for yearly eye exams. I've recently moved into the city and started going to Jeffrey. For years, my sister has been raving about him and now I know why. He is meticulous about his work. Outstanding service and selection. The knowledge and experience of the staff is beyond question. Prices are competitive with the market. Personal attention to each customer is the norm unlike the chain stores whose short-termed employees couldn't care less if they keep a customer or not. After reading some of the negative reviews one can only conclude that the writers themselves are the problem, no doubt caused by their own inflated sense of self worth. Why anyone would shop here is a mystery to me. Jeffrey is rude, unethical and thoroughly obnoxious...I gave him $650 for a pair of sunglasses (which was really stupid of me in retrospect..When I went in to have him verify the lens, he shouted me out of the store and refused a refund. The glasses had not had the lenses put in. So now I am out $650 and no glasses..DO NOT PATRONIZE THIS STORE.
