Jefferson Lumber Jefferson Lumber Company was founded in June of 1950. The present site was originally a potato farm. Construction of the original buildings could not begin until the final crops of potatoes were harvested. In those days the Watterson Expressway did not exist and parts of this two-lane country road were gravel. Some questioned why would you build a lumber company so far out in the country?
