I have had Dr. Jason Short as my primary doctor for 16 years. He has provided excellent care. I have had minor inpatient procedures that were handled with skill that I would have expected only from a specialist. I have found him to be professional and to the point. Willing to listen to my concerns and has given me excellent care. The times that I have not agreed with his opinion have turned out to be the right call on his part. He is not inflexible and will choose the best care option for his patients.

Dr. Short has been a good, thoughtful, frank doctor for me. I prefer caregivers to be honest and upfront. I have seen him for 9 yrs and have recommended him to those who want a doctor who will be candid. He knows who are the good specialists and I have appreciated all of his referrals. One time I was seeing a Naturapathic Doctor and Dr. Short was very open to working with the Naturapath in ordering blood tests, etc. And his staff is very professional. Good Doc.

Business response:

Thank you for your positive feedback!

My doctor retired. I asked a friend who he would recommend. He said Dr. short. This was a few years ago and I could not be happier.. I trust him. I have several health issues and he helps me with all. He is straight forward. He tells it how it is. I respect that..

Business response:

Thank you for your kind post regarding Dr. Short. We are very proud of our staff and glad to hear you have had a good experience here.

Quick and to the point for whatever I've come in for. Dr. Short sees my entire family. Wonderful interaction with my son and his diagnosis has kept our family healthy and over illness quickly.

Dr. Short was the 1st MD I could get an appt with when I moved to B'ham about 2 years ago, and it is easy to see why. He is short on empathy and difficult. He shows little consideration for the patient's knowledge of their own history and is very condescending. Medication, if given, is given in the smallest quantity possible - & not just narcotics. Tests and rechecks, though, he and his office think are great, as long as it keeps the money coming. I'm looking for a new doctor.

He is a really nice guy, however I just don't feel 100% confident in his knowledge. Went in for a general check up (which is covered by insurance in full), and asked a question about a sore foot. At that point, I was notified that it would no longer be a general check up and would instead be an office visit. More than $100 for him to look at my foot for five minutes and refer me to a foot specialist. Disappointing.

Dr. Short's practice of basic family medicine leaves much to be desired is an understatement. The laissez-faire method of treatment doesn't reflect well nor does his poor reasoning when challenged about conclusive decisions. I also experienced push-back when seeking prescriptions. Eventually, I sought a different primary when a lack of trust in his judgement lead me to feel like I couldn't be honest with him about deeply private health concerns.

Business response:

We are very sorry to hear about your experience. Please let our practice manager know if you are ever displeased with your service. The feedback is invaluable and we would like to have the opportunity to gain your trust. Thank you for taking the time to post.

Put making a buck over my health. Cut me off of my prescription until I came in for a visit. He only told me how important it was that I keep taking my medicine but said that he would cut me off if I didn't come in twice a year. Only cares about money, not patient health.
