I am writing this review with a heavy heart and deep concern regarding the care - or lack thereof, for my aunt received from Dr. James May IV and his staff as she faced a throat cancer diagnosis. From the very first appointment, the experience was marked by poor communication, dismissive attitudes, and a troubling absence of empathy. I went today for a growth that had appeared under my tongue that was scary to me. Along with a few other problems. I was having that are not normal, like fluid in my ears at night and pain. Also not being able to swallow correctly. The doctor spent less than a minute, looking at me and would not even look at my throat when I told him the issue were there. I was disappointed with my office visit. I have been suffering migraine headaches for years and they could not help me. So i went to Colonial Heights ENT and was able to do a procedure that would relieve my pain. I have wasted too much time dealing with doctors that made me feel uncomfortable and have that superior attitude.
I gave a 1 because that was the lowest number I could give. Experience with Dr. May was horrible. He never gave my husband any answers for his problem. He just kept ordering test as if we had plenty of time to take care of his problem. He was in and out of hospital and ER numerous times between Dec. And March, he kept sending him home and was told to schedule some more test in the next few weeks.I was NEVER told he had Stage 4 Terminal cancer until about 5 hours before he passed away.
