I've been going to Dr MacDonald for several years. I have been dealing with Parkinson's since Y2K. My wife and I are very pleased. We are very grateful and thankful for his professional service, especially in this convenient small town of Smithfield. For years Dr MacDonald has had the same nurse, Tammy. She is also very pleasant, helpful, and very easy to speak with. It is always a pleasant experience to have my neurological doctor visits. When my life has had some tough spots, they have been there for me offering stability,... read more
After being admitted to UNC Johnston, I consulted with a neurologist who was not detail-oriented. This doctor attempted to attribute my stroke-like symptoms to a combination of a medication I have been taking for 14 years and another medication that I wasn’t even on. This MD assumed medication was a regular med I took though this was not the case thiswas substituted for sleep because UNC Health Johnston did not stock my regular medication so on my this MD NEVER once told me he thought it was a medication inaction while I was... read more
Dr.s office just called me canceling an appointment I've had for months exclaiming that Dr. McDonald is no longer with UNC. I had an important appointment tomorrow for a medication treatment that I desperately need. I've called another neurologists office & they can't get me in for 2.5 months. I cannot wait that long. This is really absolutely the poorest care possible. I work in health care & at the end of the day it is medicine, but it is also customer service. This has left me in a terrible predicament. Shameful.

This doctor attempted to attribute my stroke-like symptoms to a combination of a medication I have been taking for 14 years and another medication that I wasn’t even on. The hospitalist advised me to seek a second opinion, which I took seriously. As a result, I canceled my follow-up appointment and filed a complaint.
My mother was recently seen by this provider after her neurologist left her old practice. My mother has a neurological condition which requires medication. She has been calling to get her medication filled but was told because the provider did not prescribe it he won’t fill it. But you are her new neurologist and it was noted in his office note that she takes it for her condition. If you’re not competent with handling her condition why take her on as a patient. Now she out of medication after be denied the medication she is ... read more
