About this business
I have been building fine custom musical instruments since 1978 in rural Bedford, Virginia. Working alone in a wood shop I designed and built, I have developed designs for ten different acoustic instruments. Although I specialize in hammered dulcimers, I also build bouzoukis, folk harps, Appalachian dulcimers, bowed psalteries, two octave zithers, slit drums, thumb pianos, mandolins and the occasional guitar.

Design your own dulcimer or harp My husband wanted to learn the hammered dulcimer, so the search began. Turns out---my husband is very particular when it comes to dulcimers! Luckily he found Mr. Jones who created for him a dulcimer made of just the combinations of hardwoods that he desired. Mr. Jones offers a very good range of woods to choose from. He also does custom sound hole designs: he was able to make a gorgeous one from a sketch my husband made. And the sound! Very warm and full.
